Water based and Discharge Screen Printing

organic tshirt

By using water-based inks exclusively, we aim to be the best at printing these softer, longer-lasting, and more eco-friendly prints than anyone else.  These are a great choice when you’re after that soft, vintage feeling, breathable print.  Water-based inks are absorbed into the T-shirt so they move with the fabric.  Traditional plastisol inks are not absorbed into the garment, but sit on top and feel slightly rubbery.  Water-based inks are considerably more eco-friendly.  Not only are they not made of synthetic polymers like traditional inks, but they do not need harsh solvents to clean up with.  We work with each customer to achieve the garment they want from focusing on the details of artwork, color matching, placement and Tshirt style.

At Threadbare Print House we are continually striving to lessen our impact.  Water-based inks are the best alternative to traditional PVC based plastisol inks.  Less chemicals in the ink and in the cleanup process keeps harsh agents out of landfills and waterways. We are also taking things a step further by eliminating aerosol cans, mixing waste ink with coconut shell shavings for safer disposal, and partnering with Cascadian Courier Collective for bicycle deliveries around town. If you’d like to take advantage of this service we offer every Friday, your shirt delivery will come via bike Friday afternoons for only $10.

For screen printing, the preferred method for getting artwork in is to email it as a jpg or pdf at 300dpi.  If this doesn’t make sense to you, or you don’t have it, just shoot me an email and we’ll work it out.

I can print your design, or help you create one.
